UPPAbaby Aria Lightweight Infant Car Seat

A safe, featherweight design with a foolproof, intuitive installation.

Weighing just under 6 lbs, the Aria offers lightweight portability without compromising your child’s comfort and safety. Designed for busy families on the go, the Aria combines advanced safety features with a fuss-free install—base or no base—for everyday flexibility and peace of mind.

The Aria’s innovative SMARTSecure system eliminates the guesswork and guarantees a snug, straightforward installation every time. An indicator window changes from red to green for a quick visual confirmation your base is correctly installed. Unique self-retracting LATCH connectors tighten with zero effort, minimizing installation errors, and a built-in lock-off ensures securing your car seat takes only seconds. The base has an adjustable load leg and anti-rebound panel that absorb impact and minimize crash forces.

European routing allows for easy installation without the base, making the Aria ideal for travel or city living. An adjustable, reinforced headrest with EPP foam provides added side impact protection, and a fourth rebound handle position reduces motion during rear-impact collisions. No-rethread harness straps ensure a perfect fit as your baby grows, and buckle storage pockets simplify securing your little one without hassle.

The ergonomic carry handle has a comfy grip for easy toting, and a large UPF 25+ hideaway canopy keeps your baby shielded from bright sunlight. The Aria is made with DualTech FR-free fabrics and is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring your baby’s environment is as safe as it is cozy.

The Aria clicks right into VISTA and CRUZ strollers without adapters, making your switch from car to stroll smooth and easy. And if you’re using MINU or RIDGE, quick-to-attach adapters convert your stroller into an adventure-ready travel system.

UPPAbaby Aria Infant Car Seat FAQs

Is the Aria Compatible with UPPAbaby Strollers?

The Aria carrier directly attaches to Vista and Cruz strollers—no adapters needed—creating a Performance Travel System. It also connects to the Ridge and Minu strollers with adapters. Use the Aria parent-facing or forward-facing on all UPPAbaby stroller models.

Can You Install the Aria Without a Base?

The base is not required to install the Aria, and the European belt path takes the guesswork out of to achieving a safe and secure installation. The vehicle lap belt routes through the guides on the carrier that are located near the carry handle. The shoulder belt routes behind the carrier through the guide located above the carrier release from base handle. Reference the Aria manual and vehicle manual for seat belt installation guidance.

Are the Aria Fabrics Machine-Washable?

The Aria seat pad, infant insert, buckle pad, and shoulder pads can be machine washed on the gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. We recommend spot-cleaning the canopy and plastic parts. The harness webbing should be cleaned with warm water and dish soap.

When Do You Use the Aria Infant Insert?

The Aria Infant Insert is designed to optimize fit and body positioning for your newborn. The following fit criteria must be achieved before the insert can be removed.

  • Harness straps are at or slightly below shoulders
  • Bottom of the headrest is positioned at or up to 1” above shoulders
  • Chest clip is at armpit level
  • Crotch buckle rests securely against baby with no gaps
  • Room to tighten harness properly
  • Baby is not slouching

You may continue to safely use the Infant Insert beyond 11 lbs until all the above criteria are met.

Are Aria Fabrics Flame Retardant Free?

Yes, all Aria DualTech fabrics, including Jake, Greyson, Gwen, and Anthony, are flame retardant free and GREENGUARD Gold Certified for low chemical emissions.

How Should You Position the Aria Carry Handle While in Your Car?

The Aria carry handle should be in the fourth (rebound) position for all installation methods.

Can You Take the Aria on a Plane?

Yes, the Aria carrier is FAA-approved when used according to the instruction manual. We suggest you travel with your Aria in flight for optimal safety. The Aria base is not approved for aircraft use.

Can the Aria Touch the Vehicle's Front Passenger Seats?

The Aria carrier can contact the front vehicle seat if it does not impact the car seat installation and is approved by the vehicle manufacturer. The Aria base must remain in full contact with the vehicle seat surface.

Can You Use the Aria Base Without the Load Leg?

Yes, the Aria base can be used without the load leg. However, we recommend using the load leg to optimize the safety of the child in the seat. The load leg should be placed in a stowed position when not in use.

How Much of the Aria Infant Car Seat Base Should Be in Contact with the Vehicle Seat?

UPPAbaby recommends that 80% of the Aria base cover the vehicle cushion. For reference, the base should be in complete contact with the vehicle seat cushion until approximately where the front side of the carrier attachment point starts angling upward.

When Does the Aria Expire?

The UPPAbaby Aria expires seven years after the date it was manufactured. You can find the expiration date of your car seat printed on the bottom of the seat shell and the car seat base.

What Does the UPPAbaby Aria Warranty Cover?

Since January 2019, UPPAbaby has offered a limited lifetime warranty on their entire car seat family, including the Aria. You must register your UPPAbaby car seat within three months of purchase to be eligible for the limited lifetime warranty.

Beautiful Design and Super Lightweight
April 2, 2024
Super lightweight and easy to use. This car seat might not have all of the fancy bells and whistles that other car seats do because of the weight, but it works perfect and is great for my son. We noticed he didn’t cry as much when we switched over to this version from the Mesa. The green color is lovely and gender neutral. I love the design and it’s also way less bulky than other car seats. Would definitely recommend if you have the uppababy travel system and want that seamless experience.

Pros
  • Lightest car seat ever!
  • Great design and color
  • Less bulky than other car seats
  • Works with all uppababy travel systems, including old ones (we bought the original vista from a family friend and it works with ARIA!)
Cons
  • Might not have all the bells and whistles that other car seats may have, but that

I have not been able to use the product with baby yet since he will not arrive until July, but upon unboxing I am very impressed. The car seat is not only beautiful, but incredibly lightweight and super easy to install. I’ll have three across, so I had to ensure that it would fit.

Great lightweight seat
March 22, 2024
Overall, I am loving the uppababy aria! It’s extremely lightweight. The extended canopy has proven great for privacy and naps. He seems very comfortable too. I like that the handle acts as an anti rebound bar. My only complaint is that the crotch buckle falls back when not in use, so whenever I put the baby in I have to hold it forward or dig it out from under him. The base took some trial and error to install. It was not as straightforward as other bases I have used.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Extended canopy
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Crotch buckle falls back. Have to dig it out from under baby
