The Clek Fllo Car Seat is one of the world’s safest and most compact convertible car seats available on the baby gear market today. For parents who have more than one child (and perhaps not so much back-seat space available), this car seat is a dream come true. The Fllo has been called the “little sister” to the Clek Foonf, which is almost misleading. We like to think of them almost more as twins but one just came out before the other--not because they are the same, but because how little they are different.
Before we cover all of the differences between the Fllo and Foonf, it should be said that the Fllo is designed for extended rear-facing use (up to 50 lbs.), is free of brominated & chlorinated flame retardants, and comes with a nine-year warranty. It is designed with a steel anti-rebound bar, ;Clek’s ;patented EACT energy management system, and advanced side-impact ;protection. It’s so easy to clean the fabric and works with both LATCH and seat belt installations. And it’s one of Clek’s best-selling car seats, year after year.
The short version is that the Fllo is the Foonf in a more compact, less-expensive version. In many ways, they are the same. They have the same steel frame design, narrow footprint, and a clean design. The Fllo does not have the same connections--Foonf features Rigid-LATCH connectors built into its base, which allow for an effortless forward-facing installation that can be done correctly (in seconds).The Fllo uses the same flexible LATCH belt for both rear and forward-facing installations.
The Fllo’s angle is also adjusted by repositioning the seat in the car, unlike the Foonf’s three recline options. Also, Fllo features a built-in recline foot that swivels out into position to help provide an appropriate rear-facing angle. The Fllo can sit around one and a half inches lower than the Foonf when in the rear-facing position.
Well, the good news is that if you love the Foonf but can only afford the Fllo, you won’t be disappointed. The Fllo and Foonf both share the same generous height and weight limits. They both come with advanced side-impact protection and a steel anti-rebound bar. They are both less than 17 inches wide and fit three-across in most vehicles. You’ll also enjoy many of the same fabric options, all of which are free of brominated and chlorinated flame retardants. The Fllo and Foonf are both approved for aircraft travel. And, as a nod to our good neighbors to the north, both seats are manufactured in Canada.
The Fllo is built like a tank. It’s actually lighter than the other car seat built like a tank, the Foonf, by about 10 pounds. This car seat is tremendously safe. And not just that, it’s also really comfortable for kids, which checks off a lot of boxes.
The Fllo is a bit heavier, as mentioned, when compared to other brands of convertible car seats, so it might be a little more work to take in and out of the car--something you might want to consider if you need to do this often. It also requires a bit of extra setup, at times, but it’s worth it. The harness is a rethread harness, and the Infant Thingy insert takes a moment to set up properly. The good news is that you won’t be needing to do these things often.

It’s simply a challenge to get three car seats in a row in the backseat of a car. The Fllo makes it possible to do so in most vehicles. That’s impressive, considering that you’re still getting top-of-the-line safety and comfort in doing so. If you are looking at trying to have three kids in the back seat, all of which are in convertible car seats, the Fllo/Foonf options are what you want to get. There’s a wealth of options when it comes to colors and styles, too. This seat is loved by parents and constantly gets high reviews.
The only real challenge parents tell us about is the heavier weight (which we love if you’re not moving your seat much). For us, the tank-like build of the seat is wonderful, and all three kids can fit comfortably in the back. Win-win.
