I originally got this as a shower gift for my first baby. I noticed my son preferred this to the "regular" Sophie when he was little - this seems easier to grip for little hands and was easy for him to chew on, whereas the "original" Sophie can be a little awkward to chew on when babies are younger. Plus, this teether is easier to clean than original Sophie (which has a hole where water can leak into, grow mold etc).
