Melissa & Doug Chef's Kitchen - Charcoal

My 2-year-old seems to like this kitchen, particularly all the doors and "cabinets" for moving items around. It took quite some time to put together, but the instructions were well made.

Personally, I found it to be extremely pink in person but have adjusted to it (sort of). Also, I have tried to talk to customer service a couple times about spare parts, and that is effortful. They said they'd send new knobs; I received ONE. One knob.

This kitchen is completely broken and we only had it a few months, the little counter top edge snapped off and the wood chipped off where the metal pins were supposed to sit for many of the doors.. it has only the two upper doors still working. would not buy again

So disappointing! This is not a typical Melissa and Doug product. Many of the pieces are very cheap and not made well. Many of the pieces did not fit. Finally my husband and I gave up after many many hours. Unfortunately as excited as we were to have this for our granddaughter it is going back. Perhaps Melissa and Doug need some better quality control.

Don't recommend this product. The pieces didn't fit correctly, it was extremely frustrating.

My 3 year old son is excited about his kitchen! My husband and I stayed up until almost 5AM Christmas morning putting it together. It's adorable, had great features, and is all around the best for the price we researched for wooden sets. The only setbacks would be that the screws are exposed (no decorative stickers included to cover them) and the doors for the microwave and freezer/refrigerator are loose and I worry they may break off easily eventually since he is young and still learning his own strength. Otherwise, it's a fantastic product for kiddos!

Perfect for my grandchildren to play with when they visit. They love it!

Too many missing parts here to list. The big ones being the sink, faucet, all the accessories and the front of the freezer. Being days away from Christmas, unlikely to get them before the big reveal. So disappointing.

As Grandparents, we purchased this kitchen for our Granddaughter for her 4th birthday. She absolutely loves it. I think the icecube dispenser is her favorite.
The directions, for assembling, were very clear and not a single piece or part was missing. We are quite pleased with our purchase.

We have had this kitchen for 4 years and nothing has broken on it. My kids play with it every single day.

We ordered this for our daughter for Christmas and in less than a month it's damaged. She tripped and her elbow hit the oven door and it cracked. Didn't think hhh that the materials would be so fragile. She loves playing with it, but I hate that it already looks worn in. It's right where the door handle is and with further use the handle will fall off.

I purchased this kitchen for my 4 year old daughter and we are long time Mellisa and Doug fans. Still are. Only problem.. assembly. Piece D was missing some of the holes the screws go through . So we have been unable to assemble. I'm praying that once we get that remedied , there are no more problem or potentially missing pieces .

Our granddaughter loves it!

My daughter loves the kitchen however we have had it for less than a year and every time she opens any of the doors they fall off. I have contacted about replacing parts and have received no response. We have given up putting the doors back on especially for the fridge. Also the wood is very soft and the smallest knock adds a dent or chip. Love Melissa and Doug products and this kitchen is very disappointing.

it's cute but not worth the money

I LOVE Melissa and Doug toys! However, when I purchased the playset kitchen for my granddaughters, I was somewhat disappointed by the quality. I assembled it and the directions were moderately simple enough to follow. There were some minor chips in the edges and we chipped out a small piece when assembling it. I expected it to be the best quality since I paid considerably more money for this toy. I was looking for a toy that would be an heirloom piece and I don't feel like this one will last for years of play. I will still buy this brand but will be more careful about what pieces I select. I will see how it holds up over time but I won't hold my breath!

Got this for my 3 year old daughter. She loves it! Shipped pretty quick. I was worried about the assembly. But I am a single mom and put it together all on my own in 2.5 hours. Seems super sturdy. She loves the ice cubes and already has her own art hung up on it!

I ordered a kitchen for my grand daughter and she loved it! The product was very well made and not to hard to put together. Great quality!!!

Grandparents bought this for our daughter for Christmas...she hasn't seen or played with it yet but seems like a good product...I didn't read all of the reviews so if this is a repeat I apologize, but after you lay all your pieces out, I highly recommend skipping to step 24 and installing your 6 metal hinge brackets for the doors before doing anything else...why this step is so far into the installation is behind me...can barely see the holes let alone get a good angle/grip for your screwdriver with it all put together...other than that I'm sure my daughter will enjoy it greatly...

This is a Christmas present for our daughter. We love Melissa and Doug products and I am sure this will be just as wonderful.

The door hinges are connected by screw to very soft faux wood that practically tears like paper when four year olds invariably run into it/trip over it when open.

Very disappointed!!!! Went through the whole assembly and discovered it was missing the top piece!!!! Cant attach the microwave or freezer door!! Very unhappy!!!!!!! Not a great Christmas present idea. Better open and check the box before disappointment hits on Christmas day!!!

Have not used this item yet as it is a Christmas present.

She loves it.

I was a bit worried about this kitchen, when I was assembling it the material felt fragile. I afraid one small bump and it would crack or snap. My toddler did bump it and was really worried, but it held up. It took about two hours to assemble, which includes having to screw and unscrew the bottom twice to get the slide in shelf in correctly.

I have two complaints
1. The baseboard came damaged, I am waiting to hear from Melissa & Doug about a replacement.
2. The microwave does not latch, it seems like the holes for the latch are off. The other doors moderately latch.

I will start off by saying that I am a huuuuuge Melissa and Doug fan! We have a bunch of their products so I was super excited when my daughter received this kitchen as a gift for Christmas. She loves it and hasn't stopped playing with it since. However, it is not even a month later and the oven door Is now hanging. The wood is actually split underneath. When looking back at some of the reviews I do see there are others who have had the same thing happen. Just very disappointed that it did not even last a full month. It's not like it's a cheap product.

Grandson loved his new kitchen. The ice dispenser is a hit and the noise clicking knobs are a fun addition

My 16 month old granddaughter loves it! Enjoys discovering all its many features. It is well made and will last a long time.

Assembly instructions were clear and super cute. Parts were well-organized and labeled. Assembly was a breeze! I didn't even need adult beverages!

My three boys are having a great time cooking and playing restaurant. Unit seems sturdy, and has plenty of room for accessories.

This kitchen set is really nice for the price. Bought it for my 2 year old and she absolutely loves it. We had it for a year now and still is strong. I don't understand why there are negative reviews of it fallen apart. We have no problem with it. Love it

I am HIGHLY disappointed with what we got. All was well at first, and my child loved it. The kitchen has been slowly falling apart since. The door to the oven fell off because the top wood piece chipped off, and it won't hold the door anymore. The faucet on the sink came off when my child bumped it with a toy. The knob for the faucet also keeps coming off. I've tried super glue and gorilla glue to keep the faucet and knob on, but it falls off after it gets done drying from a gentle touch. My kid is 17 months and doesn't play rough with it, but it's just falling apart after only having it for 2 months.

My two year old grandson loves his kitchen. Thank you for this wonderful product.

Assembly
- Pretty easy to assemble. Nice instructions that help with the process. Kudos on the titles for the steps by the way.
- One improvement would have been to put the metal protectors for the hinges on before assembling the boards to make it easier to attach. Not a big deal, but just an improvement for what was all in all a pretty easy process.

Build
- For the price, I was hoping that this would be built a little heavier and stiffer. It's rocks back and forth a little bit for example, and I've verified everything is tight. We've only had it for a few days and out girl isn't too hard on things, however, I can only imagine what an older children would be like, especially rambunctious ones.
- The splashing in the back for the stove and sink doesn't properly fit as it's not quite tall enough. When you try to adjust the hooks, you could end up pushing the backing out because the backing is too short to fit into the grove at the top.
- There are small brackets that are there to stiffen up each of the hinge points. For whatever reason, they didn't include holes/instructions/bracket for the bottom hinge of the freezer. Seems like that would be a weak point since there is one for every other hinge point that will give after it gets more use.

Tore on how to rate this. Probably a 2.5 overall. Mainly worried about how it will hold up long term.

We bought this for our daughter's 3rd birthday. She said it was her favorite part of the day! Other family members got her the accessories to go with it. It was easy to understand the assembly directions and took my husband and I about 2 hours after the kids went to bed.

I read TONS of reviews before settling on this kitchen. It was easy to assemble, and the ice machine keeps my 14-month-old daughter entertained forever.

However, the oven door broke off after only one month of play. I've attached pictures. I can't say I'd buy it again because it was so expensive only to break after a month of play.

Doors don't shut great. And it needs a longer counter space at the end of it for prep work

Back in December i was on a hunt for a new kitchen for my kiddos to play with. I was between this one and a kidkraft kitchen. I chose this one due to the good reviews, however, I am HIGHLY disappointed with what we got.
All was well at first, and the kiddos loved it and played with it, but after only 3 months of having it, the handle ripped off of the oven, (By an 18 month old, who could only do this if it was poorly made), the kitchen has been slowly falling apart since. The door to the oven is pushing inwards now and cracked, the handle to the sink is breaking off. My kids are young, and do not play roughly with it, this is poorly made and I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their money.

My granddaughter was thrilled!!! Hours of enjoyment!

We bought this for our kids ages 3-12 for Christmas, and they adore it. Set up was easy and only took about half an hour (even with the three year old "helping" lol). We're looking forward to many fun years with this.
