Solid Stroller
October 23, 2018
I was very excited to receive this stroller for free to review as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. Overall, this is a very solid stroller, and one that will definitely last for years. It reclines nearly all the way, so you could definitely use this for an infant, but it is large enough for a tall toddler. My 14 month old had plenty of room!
When I first pulled this stroller out of the box, I was surprised by the cherry red (I have a girl) but my daughter instantly took to it. She anxiously waited as I assembled the stroller. Assembly was a breeze, even with a 14 month old trying to climb into the stroller every couple of seconds. All you have to do is pop the wheels on, and slide the canopy on. As for design, I really like the squared look of the canopy. I thought that was a nice modern touch.
Depending on the height of your child, you may need to adjust the strap height. This honestly took me longer than assembling the whole stroller because I had trouble finding the right angle for the straps to come out. Once I found that sweet spot it was no problem. When I first saw the strap adjustment mechanism (a buckle on the back), I thought maybe my daughter would pull on the straps too hard and be able to dislodge it, but once I started working with the straps, I quickly realized there would be absolutely no chance of that!
The stroller itself is generally well-designed. I like the 3 wheel design because I find it easier to turn than a 4 wheel stroller. The double front wheel adds a bit of stability for when you go up and down off a sidewalk. The push bar is at a pretty good height, although I do wish it was adjustable. I also like the one hand fold. There's a button to press and then you grab the handle on the seat. I had no trouble doing this while holding my daughter on my opposite hip. The weight of the stroller is reasonable. It's certainly not as lightweight as an umbrella stroller, but it's sturdier, and has a bar that allows you to push with one hand, so I like that better.
My absolute favorite feature of this stroller is the built in console. On my other stroller, I had to get an add-on console, which works well but can slide, or gets in the way when I fold the stroller. The built-in console is great for regular use. I live in NYC, so I don't frequently pull my stroller in and out of cars, but the built in console is so much better for that (no risk of losing in a taxi!) and for traveling. The only downside to the console is that it doesn't work very well for a cup of coffee (in a paper cup, like from starbucks). However, if you really need that function, you'll have to buy an add-on console no matter what stroller you decide to buy.
The stroller basket capacity is decent. It holds a diaper changer (with wipes and diapers), a fair number of coats, and some library books no problem. My one frustration with the basket is that the sides of the basket are not elastic, and can make it difficult to place bulky items in the basket. I found I only really got frustrated when I needed to place a bag of groceries down below (remember, I live in NYC), so if you don't plan to grocery shop with your stroller, you'd probably be ok. You can always put groceries in via the front access panel, just not the whole paper bag at one time. If you are planning to carry along a big diaper bag, it definitely is not going to fit, but just strap it to the push bar for easy access.
Wheels-the hard wheels are pretty smooth, although I generally prefer the air-filled tires. This really only makes a big difference if you're going off-sidewalk with your stroller.
I noticed that the stroller came with the car seat adapters. I appreciated this gesture, since it means your stroller can be extra useful when your little one is tiny and you want to wheel them from your apartment to the car without killing your arm, but I didn't personally use them. I just walk or take the Subway in Manhattan.
Overall, if you're looking for an easy to fold stroller, that you can use for a while, this is a solid option.
